As an intern at the McGill Office of Sustainability, I co-founded the McGill Sustainable Events Initiative. Event-planners on campus were often overburdened by a never-ending list of tasks, leaving little time to consider how to implement sustainable practices. We noticed that the university had spent considerable resources developing a sustainable events guide specific to the school, but it was going unused as a simple PDF.

We received funding to create an online toolkit that asked questions to event planners and then automatically distilled information to show only what was pertinent. This was paired with a small team of student-consultants who worked one-on-one with event planners to help them move forward on the appropriate actions and complete a certification process. Finally, we also ran several workshops each year to both advertise our program and provide information en masse about how to plan sustainable events. This multi-year project provided me with experiences in program design and implementation, youth-focused facilitation, curriculum development, and team management.

Below, you'll find screenshots from our original online toolkit, developed over the summer of 2017. The screenshots have been grabbed from an old promotional video, my apologies for their quality!
